Close and Exciting
On Sunday, March 3 the RC Club held another exciting day of racing. We saw some good performances by our experienced and rookie drivers. There were some broken parts as a result of aggressive driving and the infrequent use of their brakes.
In the Slash Class there were some broken parts that took drivers out of contention and some close racing. Mathew W. won Heat 1 of Round 1, In Heat 2 of Round 1 Rohail Kahn won, in Heat 1 of Round 2 Eric was the winner, and Heat 2 of Round 2 Husayn earned the top spot. In The “B” Main Clarence edged out Rohail for the win by five seconds and bumped into the “A” Main. In the “A” Main Mathew W. squeaked by Eric by three seconds for 1st place.
In the SCT (Short Course Truck Class) the competition was tighter and the broken parts eliminated some drivers. In Round 1 Alex earned the victory, Alex repeated his win in Round 2 and in the Main Mathew W. lapped the field for the win.
In the Team Buggy competition there were some neat passes and some body scraping action. In Round 1 the Green Team dominated the action while Eric was the over all winner. In Round 2 the Blue Team edged out the Green Team for the top spot among the teams and Eric rolled on to the top of the scoreboard. In the Main the Green team continued its good driving for the top team spot while Eric was on top again for all finishers.
In the Student Touring Class the Traxxas 4-tec drivers did well, but some servo problems sidelined a few cars. In Round 1 Mathew W. was first among the 4-Tec drivers. Alex was third overall with his TT01E. In Round 2 Husayn lapped the field in his 4-Tec for the victory and Alex finished 2nd over all. In the Main Husayn earned his second victory in a row in his 4-Tec and Team Hadley was second with the club owned 4-Tec.
In the Off Road Truck Class the mixture of 2WD, 4WD and Stadium Truck drivers made for an interesting race. In Heat 1 of Round 1 Mathew W. earned the top spot, in Heat 2 of Round 1 Clarence got the victory, In Heat 1 of Round 2 Benjamin drove a very good race to grab the win, in Heat 2 of Round 2 Clarence lapped the field for the victory, and in the Main Mathew W. crushed the field by four laps to rack up the win.
There were good performances throughout the day. Drivers showed consistent scores throughout the day. The Green Team in Team Buggy had consistent runs in the twenties in all three races. In SCT Alex ran three consistent races of 20 laps, 19 laps and 19 laps. In the Slash Class Eric ran races of 20 laps, 20 laps and 22 laps, Rohail improved as the day went in the Slash Class with runs of 18 laps, 19 laps, and 20 laps.
